EARTHDANCE – International Peace Day

earthdancepeacepartylogoJoin us for EARTHDANCE – International Peace Day on September 21 at 3:00 – 7:00 P.M. on the Ross Street Patio and Veteran’s Park for this FREE all-ages festival celebrating peace, people, planet.

Earthdance is the world’s largest annual synchronized global music and dance event for peace.  Since 1997, Earthdance has been held in over 600 locations in 60 Countries.

Earthdance Red Deer has participated in this event since 2005.  Our mission is to promote peace by joining participants worldwide in a synchronized PRAYER FOR PEACE and to support humanitarian causes through the global language of music and dance.  Our goal is to unite people worldwide in one day dedicated to the promotion of peace, diversity and environmental causes.

ALL activities are FREE; donations of cash and Canadian Tire money will be accepted for Family Services of Central Alberta and Earthdance Global

Program Schedule:

  • 3:00 P.M. Jazz piano by Audrey Graham, artists on the piano, hula hooping, children’s activities and interactive peace banner, local organization displays
  • 3:30 P.M. Performance by Red Deer Aboriginal Dance Troupe
  • 4:00 P.M. Community Yoga – bring your mat!
  • 4:45 P.M. Peace Song by Olivia Smith
  • 5:00 P.M. Sharp! Prayer for Peace – a shared intention for peace and sustainability spoken at exactly the same time by thousands of people in communities around the world
  • 5:10 P.M. Proclamation of International Day of Peace by Mayor Morris Flewwelling
  • 5:20 P.M. Community Speakers
  • 5:30 – 7:00 P.M. Dancing on the street for everyone, with recorded music by local artists provided by Hooked on Music!
